Privacy Policy

CauseCanopy is a nonprofit initiative building software for volunteer-run organizations — starting with BoardCanopy, our tool for PTA and PTO boards. This page covers what we collect on this site and inside the BoardCanopy app, why, and what we do — and don't do — with it.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive whatever your Google account shares for sign-in: your name, email address, and profile photo. That's how we know who you are and which board you belong to — we don't ask for a separate password.
Beyond that, we store whatever you or your board's other members type into BoardCanopy: committee names, activities, due dates, and short status notes. BoardCanopy has no financial features by design, so we never collect budget or payment information.
What we don't do
- No ad tracking, and no analytics that follow you around the web.
- No selling your data — not to advertisers, not to anyone.
- No sharing your data with third parties, beyond the infrastructure providers below that we need to run the service at all.
Who else touches this data
Running BoardCanopy means trusting a small number of service providers to host it: Google (sign-in), Supabase (our database), and Vercel (hosting for the site and app). Each of them only processes what's needed to keep BoardCanopy running — none of them get to use your data for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and board data for as long as your board is active on BoardCanopy. Self-serve deletion isn't built yet — during this pilot, email hello@causecanopy.org and we'll delete your data by hand.
Your data is yours
You can export everything to CSV any time from inside BoardCanopy. Leaving shouldn't mean losing your board's history.
Children
BoardCanopy is built for adult board volunteers. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and the date above.
